Lizzo and Charli XCX Unite for "Blame It on Your Love"
The transition from Spring to Summer can be confusing. You wake up dressing for a gloomy rainy morning but by noon the sun is shining and the office is sweltering and you are regretting your turtleneck. But nothing signifies the start of summer like a summer anthem, and Charli XCX tapped Lizzo for theirs with "Blame It On Your Love."
Charli sampled her “Track 10” masterpiece from Pop 2, making the track an Elvis Duran-radio-friendly hit. The airy song produced by Stargate, who also produced her "After the Afterparty" featuring Lil Yachty, is a classic song of love, rebellion, and regret. "I blame it on your love every time I fuck it up,” the singer croons over the infectious beat.
Lizzo, who just scored her first Billboard Top 100 entry this week with “Truth Hurts” brings her vibrant no fucks given attitude to the track rapping “I’m trying to catch millions, I’m not trying to catch feelings bitch." Mood. The album artwork shows the pair, glistening, with their highlight and pink metallic squiggles on point.
Charli is proof of the good that comes from great pop collaborations. Soley on her last mixtape, the singer worked with Carly Rae Jepsen, Tove Lo, CupcakKe Brooke Candy and a plethora of amazing women. The singer told BBC 1 radio that “Until Lizzo was on it, it wasn't perfect.” in regards to their latest track. She will be performing at the upcoming Governer’s Ball on June 2, and Lizzo—who just released her first album “Cuz I Love You”—will be embarking on her tour of the same name starting July 18.
