Kacey Musgraves Announces New Visual Album 'Star-Crossed'
The album and its accompanying film will be released on September 10.
After keeping her fans waiting, Kacey Musgraves has finally announced that her highly anticipated fourth album Star-Crossed and its visual component will debut September 10. The news, revealed by Musgraves via Instagram, was accompanied by the release of the album's titular single, as well as a preview of Star-Crossed: The Film, which will available to stream exclusively on Paramount+.
The singer courted director Bardia Zeinali to visualize the project, while Matthew Libatique, whose previous works include A Star is Born and Black Swan, served as the film's cinematographer. According to a press release for the visual album, the film, which was shot over the course of 10 days in Los Angeles, will be 50 minutes long and include celebrity cameos from Eugene Levy, Victoria Pedretti, Princess Nokia, and more.
We wanted it to feel cinematic and epic without compromising the heart and the emotion,” Zeinali said of the film. “To feel fantastical and heightened and tell her story through the lens of art and fashion.”
The album, which promises to be a heart-baring collection of songs, marks Musgraves' first album since her 2019 Grammy win for Album of the Year for Golden Hour as well as her divorce from her husband of three years, Ruston Kelly.
