Premiere: John The Blind Releases "Sticky"

John The Blind’s captivating music video for Sticky is an exercise in taking an ink blot test on acid.

With the song clocking in at two minutes and eleven seconds, it turns out that’s all the time the artist needed to create not only a free-flowing song that is all his own but also a unique and visceral viewing experience.  With images that inspire remembrances of the hair of Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus,” the video’s dreamlike quality is elevated by soft neutral tones being blended together with darker inky textures. Essentially, if a pen exploded in a glass of milk.  Rather than fight each other, the dark and light combine to create a mesmerizing visual that would pair well with a joint.

Beginning his musical education at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, John later went on to work as a songwriter for such famous artists as Harry Styles, Maroon 5, John Legend and Niall Horan. However, the talented and creatively capable musician is beginning a new inventive journey. Of his years working as one of Hollywood's premiere songwriters, he discloses, “I didn’t feel like I was exercising my whole creative muscle.  I still had stuff that I needed to get off my chest, and I needed to go do it or else I was gonna freak out.”

John The Blind was born in the after hours of a career based around lyricism geared towards other artists, many of whom are at the top of the popular music charts.  However, John’s lo-fi, laid back sound is a far cry from that of the typical beat overlayed with a repetitive chorus that many pop music listeners are used to. Although John has made his name in the music world on the merit of writing in alternating voices, now that he has showcased his own, we can’t imagine him going back.
