After more than two decades in the music industry, Jay-Z has finally reached the top.

Yesterday, the 2022 Grammy nominations were announced, singling out some of the best songs and albums from the past year. The "Empire State of Mind" rapper was nominated for three awards: one for Album of the Year for Kayne West’s Donda, as well as two Best Rap Song nods for DMX’s “Bath Salts” and West’s “Jail.”

With these nominations, the King of Rap is now the most-nominated artist in Grammys history with 83 nods, surpassing Quincy Jones with whom Jay-Z was previously tied at 80.

In 1999, the rapper won his first Grammy nomination for Album of the Year for his third studio album Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life. Since then, he has amassed 23 Grammy Awards.

At the 2021 Grammys, he won Best Rap Song for Megan Thee Stallion's "Savage," on which he was credited as a songwriter. At the same award show, his wife—the one and only Beyoncé—also made her name in the award show's history books as the most-nominated woman and most-awarded singer ever.

The 2022 Grammy Awards will be held at the soon-to-be-renamed Cryto.com Arena on January 31, 2022. The show will be broadcast live on CBS.
