Dua Lipa Sued for Alleged Plagiarism on 'Levitating'
Dua Lipa has been sued by American reggae band Artikal Sound System for the similarities between her hit “Levitating” and their song “Live Your Life.”
"New Rules" singer Dua Lipa is being accused of plagiarism in her hit song "Levitating," from the award-winning album Future Nostalgia. American reggae band Artikal Sound System has filed a lawsuit against the singer, claiming that her music sounds identical to "Live Your Life" from their Smoke and Mirrors EP.
According to the band, Lipa would have had access to the first version of "Live Your Life" and so it would be "very unlikely that 'Levitating' was created independently." In addition to the singer, her record company Warner Records and anyone else involved with the production of the song are being sued.
Lipa's song peaked at number five on the UK charts and number two on the Billboard Hot 100, making the singer the longest-running female artist to have a Top 10 hit.
