Clara Mae is Teasing Us with the Release of Her Latest Single "Lost"
If you need a good pop tune to get you through the rest of the day, look no further: Swedish singer-songwriter Clara Mae is back with her latest single, “Lost.” The track comes as a teaser to her forthcoming sophomore EP set for release later this year.
The song, produced by Anton Rundberg, tells the story of a past relationship that leaves one of two former lovers wondering if the past was worth it. While one looks back in longing, the other feels lost in their mixed emotions and more willing to let go of what they had.
Directed by Madeline Kate Kann, the video shows singer Mae opposite the chain-smoking man poised to be her complicated lover. The beginning scenes present the two as head-over-heels in love, with much affection on display as they playfully chase each other around. Slowly conflict arises as the pair appears to argue and drift apart, with one lover begging to hold onto the other. The scenes alternate between a few dark rooms illuminated by streaks of neon lights, one featuring a fake snowfall and the other, a row of glowing fish tanks filled with colorful sea creatures. The visuals give way to an old film look, with various scenes playing through strips of film.
Mae’s return by way of a music video release comes ahead of her North American tour alongside singer-songwriter Ella Vos, which kicks off in Seattle on March 21st. Mae will then head overseas to perform as special guest on singer-producer Alex Aiono’s #Fun23 tour. Following the success the release of her debut EP, Sorry For Writing All The Songs About You, last year, which featured standout tracks like “I’m Not Her” and “I Forgot,” Mae’s next EP is sure to deliver. Until then, check out the video below and keep it on repeat.
