Billie Eilish Shuts Down Kanye West's Accusations of Dissing Travis Scott at Concert
Kanye West and Billie Eilish's beef may put the 2022 Coachella lineup at risk.
In the most recent Kanye West drama, the rapper has accused Billie Eilish of dissing fellow rapper Travis Scott during her show in Atlanta earlier this month.
Ye's allegation was made via an Instagram post of a now-deleted photo by Rapseastv, which accuses Eilish of throwing shade at Scott during a recent performance. The post is referencing a recent situation where Eilish noticed someone at her concert having trouble breathing. She abruptly stopped the show in order to get the fan an inhaler and calmly asked her fellow concert-goers not to surround her as she waited. Once the issue was resolved, the show continued on. In a video clip from the incident, Eilish is heard saying, "I wait for people to be okay before I keep going."
However, Ye has started his own firestorm, stating that he would not be performing at this year's Coachella—which he and Eilish are scheduled to headline—unless she apologized for dissing Scott.
"COME ON BILLIE WE LOVE YOU PLEASE APOLOGIZE TO TRAV AND TO THE FAMILIES OF THE PEOPLE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES NO ONE INTENDED THIS TO HAPPEN TRAV DIDN’T HAVE ANY IDEA OF WHAT WAS HAPPENING WHEN HE WAS ON STAGE AND WAS VERY HURT BY WHAT HAPPENED AND YES TRAV WILL BE WITH ME AT COACHELLA BUT NOW I NEED BILLIE TO APOLOGIZE BEFORE I PERFORM," he captioned the post.
The announcement quickly garnered attention—receiving over a million likes in 21 hours. Eilish responded to the accusations maturely, brushing off the rapper's comments.
"Literally never said a thing about Travis," she commented on the post. "Was just helping a fan."
Scott has yet to provide a comment on the matter.
The accusation comes months after a crowd surge at Scott's Astroworld Festival resulted in the deaths of 10 attendees and over 100 injuries.
In light of West's post, members of the victim's families have also spoken out. Tericia Blount, the grandmother of nine-year-old victim Ezra Blount, told Rolling Stone, "I think it’s just crazy, and I hate to use that word, but I think it’s ridiculous. She’s making sure that she is caring for the patrons at her concert, and I just think that’s crazy of Kanye to even let that demand come out of his mouth."
Blount commended Eilish's actions, telling Rolling Stone, “I totally commend Billie Eilish for having that decency about her. I think what she did was wonderful, and I would love to tell her myself how brilliant and awesome she is for doing so.”
