New Trailer for Billie Eilish's Documentary Shows Teen Milestones and Family Moments
Teen pop star Billie Eilish releases the first peek at her upcoming documentary. Directed by R.J. Cutler, The World's a Little Blurry is due to premiere in February on Apple TV+ and will share an intimate look at the 18-year-old singer’s meteoric rise to fame.
The project was first announced in 2019 and in a teaser video. Now, the first full trailer shows the contrast between Eilish’s candid moments with family, performing for crowds, seeing her dream car in her driveway, and more. One telling moment comes when the singer asks a crowd if they’re OK. They scream excitedly, and she gets a bit more serious. “Y’all need to be OK,” she says. ‘Because y’all are the reason I’m OK. OK?”
Eilish herself is one of many Gen Z members who advocate for greater transparency around mental health. She speaks openly about sadness and the hardship that can come with fame, and also favors a goth, dark aesthetic. Her look has widely influenced e-boy and e-girl and other neo-goth-adjacent aesthetics on social media, and her songs have spawned a number of TikTok trends. Recently, Jimmy Fallon even attempted to create his own version of Eilish’s “Therefore I Am” music video.
Eilish is the latest star to release a documentary. This year, Taylor Swift’s recent Miss Americana took the world by storm. In 2019, Beyoncé and Travis Scott released Homecoming and Look Mom I Can Fly, respectively. Eilish’s idol and collaborator Justin Bieber released his own concert film Never Say Never in 2011.
The Grammy-winning singer's documentary will explore the unique challenges of being a young woman in the spotlight, and promises to share intimate moments with her audience. After a disappointing but necessary decision to cancel her much anticipated tour due to the COVID-19 outbreak, The World’s a Little Blurry will introduce a new side of Eilish to her fans.
