No Tears Left to Cry

4/20 may be the day synonymous with smoking weed, but this year, there's a new reason to celebrate the sacred stoner's holiday. Yes, 4/20 this year will mark the return of Ariana Grande, who has been painstakingly MIA from social media since last December. And that my friends, is cause for a celebration.

The "Side To Side" songstress broke her silence after posting a series of tweets yesterday that sent fans (and the world) into a frenzy. The first was a teardrop emoji, followed by a heartfelt "miss you," and then "ʎɹɔ oʇ ʇɟǝl sɹɐǝʇ ou 4.20." In case you can't read words upside down, that last one says "no tears left to cry 4.20," later revealed as the name of her upcoming single. There were also a series of three posts on Instagram, which added a row of hazy grey to her grid.

Earlier this week, sweaters bearing the inverted text made their way to several celebrities like Kim Kardashian West, our issue 2 cover star Troye Sivan, Grande's beau Mac Miller, and more. Before releasing her previous album Dangerous Woman, Grande famously wore a sweater with the album's name before revealing its title.

So what can we expect from Ari's new era? As of now, it's too early to tell. The upside down text and teardrop imagery bring to mind some Through the Looking Glass/Alice In Wonderland vibes, but her new shiny greyscale aesthetic could mean something else.

A new era is coming.
