Adele Finally Reveals Why She Canceled Her Las Vegas Residency
Disappointed fans finally get an answer to why the British pop star canceled her Caesars Palace residency.
On January 21, Adele posted a video to her Instagram announcing that she was canceling her Las Vegas residency. With tears in her eyes, the British singer revealed that the main cause of the last-minute cancelation was the fact that half of her employees tested positive for COVID-19. Almost a week later, behind-the-scenes sources have revealed the real reason behind the cancelation was a lot more dramatic.
At least 24 shows were scheduled to take place at The Colosseum in Caesars Palace through the end of April 2022. Now, the strings of concerts have been postponed without a definitive return date, disappointing her fans who spent hundreds of dollars to see the singer. After Adele's cancelation, the casino announced that country music star Keith Urban, would take up the open spots.
According to The Sun, the singer got into a series of artistic disagreements regarding the production of her shows. "Although the set cost millions of dollars to put together, Adele was unhappy with the result and made her feelings very clear to Esmeralda Devlin [the set designer hired for the tour]. She was already nervous and the fight left her panicking because she was desperate for everything to be perfect," a source told the publication.
The newspaper also claims that Adele asked for constant changes to her shows over the months of planning. "There was no real clarity on what Adele wanted for the show. It seemed that while she had always preferred a stripped-down performance, she was under pressure to create a big extravaganza," the source said.
