Saint Laurent Men's Spring 2019
Held at New Jersey's Liberty Park, Anthony Vaccarello's latest collection for the storied French fashion house was an homage to the label's unique history with The City That Never Sleeps. The range boasted rock 'n roll-inspired staples that have become a hallmark of the Saint Laurent name, with pinches of subversive elements like the inclusion of female models like Kaia Gerber and Binx Walton, and a stunningly sexy finale that involved silver body glitter.
It was dirty, unadulterated glamour surrounded by da flurry of smoke and mirrors—an unofficial nod to the authentic and grimy spirit of the Jersey punk scene of yesteryear, with a polished French twist. Python boots, wide-brim hats, aged silver-embellished belts, gold trim, and lots of leather were just some of the sartorial codes that created this illusion. And while some might critique it as a watered-down version of the brand's Hedi Slimane days, Vaccarello remains unbothered, proving once and for all that if something ain't broke, don't fix it.
