See All the Looks from Dior Men Fall 2020 Runway Show
On an industrial lot in what looked like the middle of nowhere Miami, a yellow and green graffiti-covered building was unlike any other. As it turns out, the location wasn’t the middle of nowhere at all. Rather, it was Allapattah, the neighborhood next door to Wynwood that's quickly turning into Miami’s new arts district.
And that graffiti building? All thanks to Kim Jones. The Dior Men artistic director staged his Fall 2020 show in the building, deciding to wrap the space in a graffiti print of the Dior logo, created in collaboration with none other than streetwear god Shawn Stüssy.
It's natural that Jones should show his new collection in Miami; after all, it is the start of Art Basel Miami Beach 2019, and the house of Dior has a history of looking to art for inspiration (just look at womenswear artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri's work with the Guggenheim). Jones even went so far as to mention in his show notes that the house’s fascination with art is at the “heart of its inventiveness, now more than ever.” This was in part why all guests, including Kate Moss, Bella Hadid, two Kardashians, and Maluma, trekked across the bridge to Allapattah. The industrial lot was, in fact, the new home of the Rubell Museum, which houses one of the most important art collections in Miami, developed over half a century by Don and Mera Rubell.
While rumors of Jones’ collaboration with Stüssy have been circulating for quite some time, with a glimpse or two incidentally leaking ahead of the show, the streetwear guru’s capsule was the cherry on top of a psychedelic bohemian collection. Men came out donning cowrie shell jewelry, croc Dior saddle bags that would make any woman jealous, and French berets and bucket hats. While the hype beasts will inevitably go for the logo pieces and the new shoes in collaboration with Air Jordan, those who love the craft of couture and tailoring will love the gorgeously embroidered floral sweaters, the sorbet-hued jackets, and the collection's overall laid-back vibe.
