Celine Homme's Spring/Summer 2021 Print is a Dream Vacation Look
This vibrant print in Hedi Slimane's Spring/Summer 2021 collection for Celine Homme embraces the art of travel.
At the Celine Homme Spring/Summer 2021 fashion show titled "The Dancing Kid," which took place behind closed doors on the Castellet racing circuit in the South of France, audiences were stunned by American artist Tyson Reeder's spirited "Cali" print. The collaborator is known for his dream-like and almost childish representation of life in the American West.
Fruit of the collaboration between Hedi Slimane, the House of Celine's artistic director, and the Chicago-based painter, the postcard motif takes up one of the latter's most famous works, Autobahn, in which lush vegetation overgrows onto the frame. That is indeed the impression on the garments as well, so much so that the satin bomber, nylon windbreaker, hoodie, crochet cap, and cotton canvas sneakers seem to be overflowing with communicative energy.
Also a curator in his spare time, Reeder likes to combine different artistic influences, music among them. He says, "I love to use paint as an amplifier or distortion pedal. When a handful of things at the end of their life, trees, cars, buildings...are allowed to produce a new melody, made of colors and patterns deliberately arbitrary."
