Over the past decade, Adam Driver has made a name for himself in Hollywood with countless roles in both indies and blockbusters. He first rose to prominence during his supporting role on HBO's Girls, which earned him three consecutive primetime Emmy nominations (and also originated the iconic "good soup" TikTok soundbite). His film career began as he was cast in supporting roles for Steven Spielberg's Lincoln, Noah Baumbach's Frances Ha, and the Coen Brothers' Inside Llewen Davis

Driver's wider recognition came for playing Ben Solo/Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy from 2015 to 2019. From there, the actor's career trajectory only went up. He returned to theater and earned a Tony Award Best Actor in a Play nomination for Burn This, as well as consecutive Academy Award nominations for his roles in Spike Lee's Black KkKlansman and Baumbach's Marriage Story. In 2021, the actor starred alongside Lady Gaga in the highly-anticipated crime biopic film House of Gucci, which covered the assassination of Maurizio Gucci.

In honor of his 39th birthday, L'OFFICIEL rounds up some of Driver's best viral moments that have turned him into an Internet sensation.

His Burberry Campaign

Driver made the Internet swoon with his minute-long commercial for Burberry back in July. The House of Gucci actor was featured shirtless on a beach alongside a horse, diving into the water and emerging as a centaur. Unsurprisingly, the campaign led to an outbreak on social media, with individuals being shocked, surprised, and even aroused at the sensual advert.

Smoking at Cannes during "Annette"

During the standing ovation for his film Annette at Cannes Film Festival, Driver cheekily lit up a cigarette five minutes into the applause. One clip on Twitter shows Driver smoking straight into the camera, which led to another Internet frenzy. The festival is notorious for its lengthy standing ovations, with the record being a 22-minute one for Pan's Labyrinth in 2006.

Driver has hosted Saturday Night Live three times, with his most recent stint even earning him an Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series category. During his second appearance as a host, one of Driver's most iconic sketch moments was when he played Abraham H. Parnassus, an oil baron who terrorized his son (Pete Davidson) and the rest of the class.

As one of his longest-running bits of 2020, John Oliver has engaged in a thirsty feud with Driver as he consistently made suggestive comments about the actor. During the epic conclusion to the Last Week Tonight cast's favorite ongoing gag, Oliver received a call from Driver, where he chastised the talk show host. "What the fuck are you doing?" the actor demanded. "This bit. This thing that you've been doing that's either sexual or violent [...] What's wrong with you?"

The Marriage Story actor then proceeded to call the host a "hollow-boned Mr. Bean cosplayer" and an "underbaked gingerbread boy," which Oliver appeared to love.

An old clip from HBO's Girls became a viral soundbite on TikTok thanks to Driver's iconic "good soup" line. During the sixth season of the show, he and Lena Dunham's character meet at a diner for a somber end to their relationship, and Driver proceeds to fill the awkward silence in the room by taking a large slurp and muttering "good soup." As a result, TikTok users have proceeded to utilize this clip with their own humorous takes on their favorite "soups."
