Tom Cruise Has BMW Stolen While Filming 'Mission: Impossible'
This may be a case for Ethan Hunt.
While Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible character Ethan Hunt may be a world renowned spy, it seems a new disaster was diverted with the simple help of some British police officers.
While filming the seventh installment of the film series in Birmingham, England, the actor was the victim on grand theft auto. According to West Midlands Police, Cruise's BMW X7 was stolen Tuesday before being recovered just a few hours later in the town of Smethwick. The police are currently investigating the issue and examining footage from security camera in the surrounding areas.
The cast of Mission: Impossible 7 began filming in Italy—particularly in Venice and Rome—in February 2020. However, production was shut down in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. In July 2020, filming resumed throughout Europe in England, Norway, and Italy, though filming has almost exclusively remained within the UK since December.
Towards the end fo last year, an audio clip of Cruise berating two crew members on set was leaked. The actor was allegedly up in arms over their disregard of COVID-19 protocols. However, production on the film has continued throughout 2021. Mission: Impossible 7 is slated to hit theaters May 22, 2022.
