Peacock announced that The Office spinoff was officially happening. Though the plot specifics are yet to be released, the official logline states: "The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters." In other words, this premise promises to deliver the same blend of humor, heart, and mockumentary-style storytelling that made The Office a beloved classic. Fans can anticipate an exciting new chapter in The Office universe, exploring the quirks and dynamics of a fresh set of characters within the familiar framework of documentary-style filming.

Though the new The Office spin-off is set in the same universe, none of the original cast members will be returning to reprise their roles. But don't fret, that doesn't mean they're not making a cameo (ahem, Steve Carell, we're counting on you to bring Michael Scott's iconic humor back to life). So, who's starring in the yet-to-be-named upcoming series, you ask? As of May 8, The White Lotus star Sabrina Impacciatore and About Time star Domhnall Gleeson are set to lead as the main characters for the new show. At this stage, not much is known about the rest of the cast as the spinoff has only recently been announced, but rest assured, L'OFFICIEL will stay tuned for updates.

The new The Office spin-off is set to begin in July 2024, and the release date is yet to be announced.

"It’s been more than ten years since the final episode of The Office aired on NBC, and the acclaimed comedy series continues to gain popularity and build new generations of fans on Peacock,” NBCUniversal Entertainment president Lisa Katz said in a release. "In partnership with Universal Television and led by the creative team of Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, this new series set in the universe of Dunder Mifflin introduces a new cast of characters in a fresh setting ripe for comedic storytelling: a daily newspaper," Katz added.
