&ldquo;Don&rsquo;t be ridiculous, Andrea. Everybody wants this.&rdquo; The fiercely devoted fanbase of the cult-classic is finally getting what they want.

It's finally happening. Miranda Priestly is likely returning to shoot some more icy glares in a sequel to <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/devil-wears-prada-best-looks-sequel-news-meryl-streep-anne-hathaway-emily-blunt">The Devil Wears Prada</a> after almost two decades.&nbsp;
The original movie, based on Lauren Weisberger&rsquo;s novel by the same name, follows Andrea &ldquo;Andy&rdquo; Sachs (<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/anne-hathaway-reveals-she-was-ninth-choice-the-devil-wears-prada-role">Anne Hathaway</a>), a recent journalism graduate who moves to New York City and lands a job at a fashion magazine as a junior assistant for the relentless Editor-in-Chief Miranda Priestly (<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/meryl-streep-the-devil-wears-prada-method-acting">Meryl Streep</a>). The character of Priestly is considered to have been partially inspired by Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, who Weisberger worked for as a personal assistant. 
Streep won a Golden Globe for best actress in a comedy, along with an Academy Award nomination as a result of her role. It also was a breakthrough project for Emily Blunt, who played the role of Emily Charlton, Priestly&rsquo;s assistant. The film went on to gross over $326.7 million worldwide in its June 2006 debut.&nbsp;

For years, there have been speculation about whether Miranda, Andy, and Emily will make a return to the big screen. This week, <a href="https://puck.news/devil-wears-prada-sequel-is-in-the-works/">Puck News</a> reported that the sequel is officially in the works, will follow Streep&rsquo;s Miranda Priestly &ldquo;at the end of her career, facing the decline of traditional magazine publishing&rdquo; while Blunt&rsquo;s character has moved on to become an executive &ldquo;at Kering or LVMH-style luxury group,&rdquo; which has the type of advertising budget that Priestly needs to keep her magazine alive.&nbsp;
Puck News also reported that writer Aline Brosh McKenna is working on the sequel to the box office hit with Disney. The producer of the original film, Wendy Finerman, is set to develop and produce the sequel, and <a href="https://deadline.com/2024/07/the-devil-wears-prada-sequel-aline-brosh-mckenna-disney-1236004034/">Deadline</a> reports that original director David Frankel may return as well. Streep and Blunt are also in talks to reprise their roles from the iconic film. There is still no word on whether Hathaway will return after an interview with The View back in 2022 where she didn&rsquo;t think there could be a sequel. With all eyes on her, will Hathaway's Andy Sachs still be &ldquo;the wide-eyed girl peddling her earnest newspaper stories&rdquo; if she does make an appearance in the new movie? All we know for sure is that either way, Sachs won't be with her boyfriend Adrian Grenier&rsquo;s Nate.
