We get it, things are hectic right now. You might be experiencing a little bit of cabin fever and need some fresh entertainment finds. Luckily, with a new month, comes lots of new television and movies on your favorite media platforms. With more options every second, there's never a shortage of content on streaming services and this month is no different. From HBO to Netflix to Hulu, you can always be sure that someone has released something new and exciting to binge. The month of April is no exception, bringing original content to stream like Netflix's new show Cooking with Cannabis and the season 4 premiere of Insecure. We'll also see the arrival of some big blockbuster films that you may have either missed out on or want to watch again, like Parasite and A Quiet Place. While you probably now have the time to watch every single release, we've narrowed down a list to get you a place to start. Coming to Netflix on April 1, this is a new sketch comedy show that's sure to make you laugh. It's six episodes, so very easy to binge if you're quarantining at home. Stand-up comic Iliza Shlesinger stars in, and is also an executive producer of the series.

Also coming to Netflix on April 1st is this original baking show. Home bakers who don't have the best track record in the kitchen seek a second chance to prove their culinary skills. In each episode, three contestants try to re-create edible masterpieces. For example, one challenge is to paint self-portraits on cookies. The winner gets a $10,000 prize. Comic Nicole Byer and pastry chef Jacques Torres host.

Cooked with Cannabis

Appropriately coming to Netflix on April 20th, ​​​​​​singer Kelis premieres her new show called Cooked with Cannabis. It's ​a cooking competition series; the contestants are challenged to make masterful dishes made with cannabis-infused ingredients. Leather Storrs, a chef from Portland, Oregon, will also be hosting alongside Kelis.

Murder to Mercy: The Cyntoia Brown Story

Murder to Mercy: The Cyntoia Brown Story is an in-depth look at the life of Cyntoia Brown who was sentenced to life in prison after killing a man in self-defence. She was granted clemency and released from prison last year in 2019. The much-anticipated series comes out on Netflix April 29. 

Parasite

If you haven't yet seen the Oscar-winning film Parasite, now is your chance. All unemployed, Ki-taek and his family take a strange interest in the wealthy and alluring Park family and find themselves in an unexpected situation. Greed and class discrimination are major themes in this film, which has gotten an increasing amount of buzz as time has gone on. The show is out on Hulu April 8.

Calling all horror and science fiction fans! Directed by The Office's John Krasinski, A Quiet Place stars Krasinski and his wife, Emily Blunt. In this suspenseful film, a family must live in silence to avoid mysterious creatures that attack when they hear a sound; even the quietest whisper can mean death. Married couple Evelyn and Lee must protect their children and fight back against their predators. The movie is out on Amazon Prime on April 2.

High Maintenance, season 4 finale

For the uninitiated, High Maintenence is comedy series starring Ben Sinclair about a nameless weed dealer in Brooklyn. While dropping off his goods to his customers, he makes brief appearances in their lives to get a glimpse at their daily routines, allowing viewers to explore the complexities of other people's lives. The season 4 finale premiers on HBO on April 3rd.

Calling all horror fans... again! Out on HBO on April 11th, is the second instalment to IT. In the film, starring Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, and James McAvoy, the kids are all grown up and must face the clown that once terrorized them as children.

After a long hiatus, Insecure is finally back. Based on Issa Rae's acclaimed web series called Awkward Black Girl, Insecure has been a hit since its premiere in 2016. Catch the Season 4 premiere on HBO on April 12.

Coming to Disney+ on April 3, this animated film follows two teenage elf brothers venture on a journey to spend one last day with their father who died when they were young. With all-star cast Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, Lena Waithe, and Octavia Spencer, the film is sure to be a crowdpleaser.
