'SNL' Taps John Krasinski, Phoebe Bridgers, and More for First Shows of 2021
On Friday, Saturday Night Live released the upcoming hosts and musical guests for the show's first episodes in 2021. Starting off the year on January 30 as host is The Office actor John Krasinski with musical guest Machine Gun Kelly, who recently released his musical film Downfalls High. Krasinski was set to host in late March 2020 with Dua Lipa to promote his film A Quiet Place 2. However, just weeks before his scheduled appearance, in-studio production of the late night show was shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The following two episodes will feature Schitt's Creek's Dan Levy with singer Phoebe Bridgers on February 6, as well as actress Regina King and country singer Nathaniel Rateliff on February 13. All six entertainers will be making their SNL debuts.
The lineup was shared on the show's social media accounts with the ominous caption, "We're back." The comedy series is currently in its 46th season, which premiered October 3 with comedian Chris Rock and rapper Megan Thee Stallion. Since the show's return to shooting in Studio 8H, big names like Adele, Issa Rae, Dave Chappelle, and Timothée Chalamet have all taken on the role as host.
Throughout the season, SNL veteran Maya Rudolph has rejoined the cast in a guest capacity to play the newly-inaugurated Vice President Kamala Harris. Jim Carrey also guest starred as President Joe Biden, but was replaced by cast member Alex Moffat in the most recent episode.
