Say it isn't so! The latest news from Lady Whistledown reveals that everyone's favorite TV heartthrob, Regé-Jean Page will not be returning to Bridgerton for Season 2. Like previous statements regarding the future of the series, officials for the hit Netflix drama shared an Instagram post in the style of the show's own anonymous town gossip. The statement read, "While all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings. We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family."

After recently revealing herself as a fan of the series, Kim Kardashian likely spoke for a majority of viewers when she commented, "Wait!!! WHAT????"

Before leaving fans completely empty-handed, Page responded to the announcement with a note of gratitude. He wrote in the comments, "It’s been an absolute pleasure and a privilege! Joining this family - the connection on and off-screen, with our cast, our crew, all the incredible fans, has been like nothing I could have ever imagined - the love is real and will just keep growing."

In the show's premiere season, viewers follow Daphne Bridgerton, played by Phoebe Dynevor, as she tackles the London social season in search of a love match only to find herself entangled with—and eventually married to—the brooding and mysterious Duke of Hastings. While Page will not be reprising his role as the Duke in the forthcoming season, fans can rest assured that Dynevor will return to the series.

The show's statement continued, "Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer—more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear."

As mentioned in the announcement, the second season is set to follow Daphne's older brother Anthony, played by Jonathan Bailey, as he searches for a prospective bride. Sex Education actress Simone Ashley will take over for Page as the season's love interest. She has been cast as Kate Sharma, a "smart and headstrong woman" who will no doubt give the stubborn Anthony a run for his money.
