After the success of The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, Ryan Murphy's newest project with Netflix spotlights another legendary fashion designer: Halston. The five-part miniseries, titled Halston, stars Ewan McGregor as the eponymous designer, born Roy Halston Frowick. The screenplay was adapted from Steven Gaines' book about the '70s icon's life and career, Simply Halston. Today, in celebration of what would have been the late designer's 89th birthday, Netflix and Murphy have released several photos of the cast, giving fans a taste of what's to come from the actual series which is scheduled to premiere on May 14.

While many remember Studio 54 as the club of choice for stars Elizabeth Taylor, Bianca Jagger, and Cher, Halston defined New York's disco era as a regular patron and close friend to some of the establishment's most fashionable guests. The miniseries will unveil this pinnacle of fame in his career, featuring a few notable friends that joined him on his journey.

Alongside McGregor, actresses Krysta Rodriguez and Rebecca Dayan will play Broadway legend Liza Minelli and Tiffany & Co. jewelry designer Elsa Peretti, respectively. Bill Pullman will also star as David Mahoney, a businessman who acquired the Halston brand in the '70s, while Gian Franco Rodriguez will play Victor Hugo, the designer's longtime on-again, off-again partner. David Pittu, Sullivan Jones, Rory Culkin, Kelly Bishop, and Vera Farminga will also appear in the series.
