Andy Serkis Puts A New Twist On Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book with Mowgli
For years, Disney has had a monopoly on Rudyard Kipling's masterpiece A Jungle Book—both in animated and live-action forms—until now. A new take on the novel from director Andy Serkis and Warner Bros. is set to revitalize the beat-to-death story of Mowgli and boasts an A-list cast to boot.
In Mowgli, Rohan Chand plays the titular character, a boy raised by a pack of wolves in India. As he grows up, he begins to gain acceptance from the entirety of the animal kingdom (minus one menacing Tiger played by Benedict Cumberbatch) and not to mention, being reunited with the human race as his life journey unfolds.
Christian Bale stars as Bagheera the panther, Cate Blanchett as Kaa the snake, Benedict Cumberbatch as Shere Khan the tiger, Freida Pinto as Messua (human), and Andy Serkis as Baloo, the bear.
