As the returns from beach vacations and cross-country road trips mark the end of summer, it's easy to get trapped in the monotony of everyday life. However, September is the perfect month to escape—even if it's just from the comfort of your own couch. Thanks to streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and more, there's no shortage of new TV shows and films to check out this month. Here's the top nine you should check out:

"Cinderella"

In a new adaptation of a classic fairytale, Camila Cabello stars in Cinderella. Alongside the "Havana" singer, the all-star classic includes Billy Porter, Idina Menzel, Pierce Brosnan, and Minnie Driver, as well as newcomer Nicholas Galitzine who plays the charming Prince Robert. Watch all the magic on September 3 on Amazon Prime Video.

"The D'Amelio Show"

After a meteoric ascent to fame, Charli and Dixie D'Amelio are taking their talents from TikTok to TV with the premiere of their new reality show. The series will cover the behind-the-scenes life of the D'Amelio family as they all wrestle with their newfound celebrity status. Stream The D'Amelio Show on Hulu on September 3.

"Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings"

The latest Marvel movie introduces superhero fans to the franchise's first Asian lead character, Shang-Chi, a martial artist who was trained as an assassin in his youth. Actor Simu Liu stars in the titular role and actress/comedian Awkafina plays Shang-Chi's friend Katy. Get a front-row seat for all the action in theaters September 3.

"Lucifer"

After five successful seasons, Netflix's divine comedy Lucifer will debut its sixth and final season on September 10. In its concluding episodes, the show deals with the aftermath of Lucifer's new appointment as God and how it impacts his relationship with Chloe.

"The Voyeurs"

Euphoria's Sydney Sweeney and Generation's Justice Smith lead this erotic thriller as Pippa and Thomas, a couple moving into a new apartment. However, when they see the hostile relationship of the couple in the window across from them, their inner desires take over. Stream this film September 10 on Amazon Prime Video.

"Scenes from a Marriage"

Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac star in HBO's newest miniseries Scenes from a Marriage. The show, based on a Swedish series of the same name, follows the dissolution of a couple's marriage over time. The series premieres September 12.

"The Premise"

From the mind of The Office's B.J. Novak comes The Premise, a star-studded anthology series about today's world. The series includes appearances by Tracee Ellis Ross, Lucas Hedges, Kaitlyn Dever, Lola Kirke, Ben Platt, Jermaine Fowler, and more. The season premieres on Hulu on September 16.

"Sex Education"

Netflix's charmingly intelligent comedy series Sex Education returns with Season 3 on September 17. Actor Asa Butterfield who plays the protagonist Otis Millburn told The Guardian that there will be a "time jump" between Seasons 2 and 3. From the trailer, it seems there's a new headmistress at Moordale Secondary School played by Jemima Kirke and she is giving the place a major facelift, however, it's unclear if the same can be said for some of the characters' relationships.

"Dear White People"

More than two years after the premiere of Season 3, Dear White People is back for its fourth and final season. The Netflix dram-com features a group of Black students at a fictional Ivy League school where they face racism, cultural appropriation, LGBTQ+ stigma, and more social issues as the series maps out the life of Black students in historically white spaces. Watch all your favorites take on senior year on September 22.
