Here's Why You'll Love Netflix's New Limited Series 'Maniac'
After a strong campaign surrounding the launch of Maniac—a brand new limited series on Netflix—we have finally been able to dive into the imaginative universe of American director Cary Joji Fukunaga, as well as discover Jonah Hill and Emma Stone as we've never seen them before. All we have to say is forget everything you remember about Superbad.
Hill plays Owen Milgrim, the neurotic son of a great New York City industrialist, while Stone plays Annie Landsberg, a young, charismatic woman with borderline personality disorder and a haunting past that gnaws away at her. The two strangers meet in a clinical drug trial orchestrated by a shady pharmaceutical company. The experience is a whirlwind of emotions, flashbacks, epochs, and references, bathed in an intoxicating aesthetic and brought to life by a razor-sharp script.
Written by Patrick Somerville, the series is actually adapted from a Norwegian TV show, and is bathed in an atmosphere of absurdity, helped along by series regulars Sally Field and Justin Theroux. You can binge all ten episodes now.
