This year’s Oscars nominees have been announced, with Everything Everywhere All at Once leading the pack with 11 nominations, including Best Picture. Avatar: The Way of Water, which became the highest-grossing film of 2022, is also in the running for Best Picture, as are The Banshees of Inisherin and All Quiet on the Western Front—both tied with nine nominations. Other Best Picture nominees include Tár, Women Talking, Top Gun: Maverick, The Fabelmans, Triangle of Sadness, and Elvis.

Michelle Yeoh plays Evelyn Yang, a woman who navigates an interdimensional rupture that unravels reality and a hero who must channel her newfound powers to fight the dangers and return the world to a balance. 'Avatar: The Way of Water'

Avatar: The Way of Water, James Cameron's most anticipated film sequel, follows former marine Jake Sully who is now living with Neytiri and the Na'vi. This sequel gives viewers with a deeper view of Pandora as the Na'vi must leave their home and explore new regions. Avatar: The Way of Water is currently only in theaters.  

'Tár'

Tár is a musical drama centered on the renowned musician Lydia Tár, played by Cate Blanchett. Tár is widely known as the first female director of a major German Orchestra and is considered one of the greatest living composers-conductors. 'The Banshees of Inisherin'

The Banshees of Inisherin is about two lifelong friends, Pádraic and Colm, who find themselves at an abrupt end to their relationship. Set on a remote island off the coast of Ireland, Pádraic is set on repairing the damaged friendship but as the tension between the two men grows, their civil war begins to impact the entire town. 'Elvis'

The much-talked-about biopic Elvis tells the story of Elvis Presley's rise to fame as the King of Rock 'n Roll and his complicated relationship with manager Colonel Tom Parker played by Tom HanksElvis can be streamed on HBO Max.

'The Fabelmans'

The Fabelmans presents the story of Sammy Fabelman, a young Jewish teen and aspiring filmmaker in post-World War II Arizona. It's a coming-of-age story that follows Fabelman as he reaches adolescence and discovers family secrets. Fabelman uncovers how film can be used as a tool for seeing the truth. 'Top Gun: Maverick'

Reprising his role from the original 1986 film, Tom Cruise stars in Top Gun: Maverick as Maverick, a pilot in the U.S. Navy's Top Gun program. After being ordered to train young pilots for a special assignment that could demand the ultimate sacrifice, Maverick must confront the ghosts of his past in order to complete the mission and make it home alive. 'Triangle of Sadness'

Told in three parts, Triangle of Sadness tells the story of Carl and Yaya, two influencers who are invited onto a cruise ship alongside a group of wealthy passengers. 'Women Talking'

Women Talking starring Claire Foy, focuses on an isolated religious colony run by women. When a dark secret is unearthed, the women come together to decide their future: stay and fight or leave. Currently, Women Talking is only available in theaters.
