The iconic British series Doctor Who has been running since 1965 and throughout the years, has seen numerous reboots, changes in direction, and style shifts, but the newest season, which debuts in 2024, marks the most fashionable era of the show yet—a feat worth celebrating for one of the longest-running television series of all time.

After several years on hiatus, BBC has officially rebooted the series with a 2024 twist, and Season 14 will be available for streaming starting May 11. Doctor Who Season 14 will air weekly, with a total of eight episodes in the season. The series follows 'The Doctor' as he travels through space and time, fighting evil entities, and meeting new allies.

Past seasons have featured iconic actors like Matt Smith and David Tennant in the lead role, but in the upcoming release, up-and-coming Scottish-Rwandan actor Ncuti Gatwa will take up the mantle of 'The Doctor' in a highly-anticipated takeover. Although Gatwa is young, the actor has already taken on supporting roles in Barbie, Masters of the Air, and most notably, Netflix's smash-hit, Sex Education. Gatwa has quickly become renowned for his charm both on and off the screen, and went viral earlier in 2024 after he attended the Oscars in a clean-cut, expertly tailored Givenchy suit and subsequently attended after parties in a show-stopping metallic, armor-like breastplate.

Aside from his impeccable taste in fashion and quick-witted sense of humor, Gatwa has also been championed by long-time fans for his historic part in the series. Gatwa's role marks the first Black queer lead in Doctor Who, which is a major move, especially in upholding the diversity and visibility that the series' creators advocate for.

Alongside Gatwa, 19-year-old Millie Gibson has joined the cast of Doctor Who Season 14 after the show's chief screenwriter, Russell T. Davies, caught her appearance in the British soap opera Coronation Street. Gibson enters the cast as Ruby Sunday, companion to The Doctor.

Ahead of the release of Doctor Who Season 14, fans have raved about the palpable platonic chemistry between Gibson's and Gatwa's characters. Gibson attributes this to their real-life friendship. As a young actress, Gibson expressed anxiety over being able to fulfill the demands of acting on such an iconic TV show, but shared that her experiences on set were overwhelmingly positive. “As soon as I walked into the room, all my nerves completely floated away. It was a magical moment," Gibson said in an interview. "Then it was like a blur – I knew we had chemistry, but he is such a nice guy, he probably has chemistry with everyone. Honestly, Ncuti could have chemistry with a wall.”
