Luca Guadagnino, the director best known for Call Me By Your Name, has recently announced the cast of his upcoming TV show via Instagram, and perennial it-girl Chloë Sevigny and artist Kid Cudi are among those headlining the project. The HBO series, titled We Are Who We Are, takes place in an American military base in Italy and is supposedly a teen coming-of-age drama of sorts. Guadagnino is known for shooting on Italian soil, as he did for both CMBYN and A Bigger Splash (2015), but the setting is described to be a "little slice of America in Italy," according to an announcement on Fremantle

Filming is set to start in Italy at the end of the month. Lorenzo Mieli and Mariano Gianani of Wildside will produce the series, and relative newcomers Jack Dylan Grazer and Jordan K. Seamon will play the young teens navigating life on an American foreign base. This is Sevigny's second project with HBO, following her role as Nicolette "Nicki" Grant in Big Love, for which she won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Series. Although most know Cudi for his music, he has also worked with HBO before in the third season of Westworld.

If Guadagnino's previous projects are any indication, this series will have its own share of idiosyncrasies, likely balancing an otherworldly tenderness and romanticism with high-level emotional drama. With Sevigny's expertise balancing out the fresh blood and HBO's glowing track record with teen dramas (hello, Euphoria) we can expect We Are Who We Are to be a winning combination.
