Cher's Life and Work Will Be Portrayed in New Biopic
Cher started her work in the entertainment industry in the 1960s and remains an living legend.
Cher is a true icon in the entertainment industry. Whether on stage or even in cinema (for those who don't know, she won an Oscar for her work as an actress in Moonstruck in 1988), the star always delivers an excellent performance.
Yesterday, Cher celebrated her 75th birthday with incredible news: her life and work will be featured in an unprecedented biopic. The artist released the news on her social media and also revealed who is already involved in the project.
Universal Pictures is behind the documentary, in addition to producers Judy Craymer and Gary Goetzman (the duo that made Mama Mia!) And Oscar-winning screenwriter Eric Roth (A Star is Born and Forrest Gump). Still without a defined title, Cher also reveals that she will be one of the producers.
To spread the good news, Craymer issued the following statement: “Gary and I are thrilled to be working with Cher again and this time bringing her empowering and true life odyssey to the big screen. One cannot help but be drawn to and inspired by Cher’s larger than life talent, fortitude, unique wit, warmth and vision. Her unparalleled success in music film and TV have inspired generations. We could not be happier to tell her story to cinema audiences.”
There will be a lot of material to work with considering the long-lived career of Cher: from her start working with Sonny Bono in the '60s to parties at the trendy Studio 54 to her critically-acclaimed records and movies.
