Everything We Know About 'Bridgerton' Season 2

Anticipate new characters, budding romances, and unrelenting drama in Bridgerton's second season.

With the upcoming release of Bridgerton Season 2, the next installment of the series has garnered so much buzz, you'd think Lady Whistledown is behind the gossip herself—and well, she is.

The Regency-era Netflix series championed for its meaningfully diverse cast and powerful acting performances has propelled actresses like Phoebe Dynevor into fame, influenced fashion trends, and fulfilled the need for period drama for many Netflix bingers. As the first season was, of course, left on a major cliffhanger, viewers of the show are more than ready to bring themselves back into the aristocratic world of 19th-century London.

L'OFFICIEL has gathered all of the gossip surrounding Bridgerton Season 2, from the cast to the content.

Release Date

Bridgerton Season 2 is coming back to Netflix on March 25, 2022.

Plot

As Bridgerton is based on the Bridgerton novels by Julia Quinn, which individually centers the stories of each Bridgerton child, there is certainly some idea of what will take place. Season 2 is based on Quinn's The Viscount Who Loved Me, the second installment of the book series.

Season 2 seems to be primarily centered on the new love interest of Anthony Bridgerton, the prospective viscountess named Kate Sharma, portrayed by Sex Education's Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey respectively. Though Anthony will be closing the chapter of his secret love affair with opera singer Siena Rosso (Sabrina Bartlett) from the first season, his next romantic journey certainly will not be free of drama.

Cast

With the excitement of good news comes the bad news. Rége-Jean Page, who plays the dashing Duke of Hastings Simon Basset, has left the show due to the end of his character arc at the close of the first season. Aside from Page, it seems the rest of the cast that audiences know and love will be present; Dynevor as Daphne Bridgerton, Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington/Lady Whistledown, Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury, and more.

Along with Ashley comes Charithra Chandan, who will be playing Kate's sister Edwina in the series. Four additional actors, Rupert Young, Shelley Conn, Calam Lynch, and Rupert Evans, have also been confirmed to play Jack, Mary Sharma, Theo Sharpe, and Edmund Bridgerton, respectively.
