Ava DuVernay to Direct New Superhero Movie
A Wrinkle in Time Ava DuVernay director is on her way to break more records, as the first African-American woman to direct a movie with more than a $100-million budget, and now diving into a superhero movie with Warner Bros. and DC Comics. She's the second woman (and the first African-American woman) to direct a major superhero movie after Patty Jenkins with Wonder Woman. This morning, DuVernay took to social media to confirm her involvement with The New Gods.
The DC comic book series was written and drawn by comic legenderary artist, Jack Kirby, who also co-created Captain America and X-Men series (before he left Marvel for DC). The plot follows an alien war between two planets as they arrive on Earth. Who says women can't direct a high-action packed movie? We'd like to see more in the future, please.
