Tim Burton is Bringing Wednesday Addams Back to Life
The world's most beloved and horrifying family, The Addams, might be getting yet another chance at life in a new TV series to be created and directed by Tim Burton.
According to Deadline, the filmmaker—Known for his gothic fantasy films such as Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Sweeney Todd, and more—is in talks with Smallville developers/executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar to co-write a show based on the present life of fan-favorite character, Wednesday.
The youngest of Charles and Morticia Addams, Wednesday is known for her stoic state, quick-plotting, familiar pale skin, and long, dark braided pigtail. Portrayed most notable by Christina Ricci in Barry Sonnenfeld's double feature adaption of the original cartoon by illustrator Charles Addams in 1938, she served as a rational foil to her family's manic nature.
While no other details are yet known—including if any of the ever-changing previous cast members such as Anjelica Huston, Joan Cusack, Charlize Theron, L'OFFICIEL star Chloë Grace Moretz, Daryl Hannah, and Tim Curry—will make a cameo—we know that the reboot will surely inspire costumes for a new generation next year.
