Celebrate the Year of the Tiger with Lunar New Year Capsules from Your Favorite Designers
Burberry, Prada, Gucci, and more evoke the power and strength of the tiger zodiac sign in limited-edition collections ahead of the Lunar New Year.
The king of the jungle, the tiger, is reigning supreme in 2022. The Year of the Tiger commences with the Lunar New Year on February 1, and luxury labels are already dropping celebratory capsule collections. The Chinese zodiac sign symbolizes qualities of courage, confidence, and ambition, which are reflected in the bold styles presented by designers. From tiger-striped accessories to red-adorned garments to bring good fortune, take a look at the evocative Lunar New Year's collections from our favorite designers.
Burberry
Burberry's celebratory capsule features the tiger's signature stripes on popular styles like its Lola and Olympia bags. The tiger is also seen illustrated on men's and women's ready-to-wear alongside an orange-accented TB Monogram print that couples with accessories from the collection like cashmere scarves and sneakers. Models Liu Bingbing, Liu Chunjie, Wang Xiangguo, and Yang Ling were tapped for the campaign.
Prada
The strong and mighty tiger is also a species facing the risk of extinction, so this year Prada is coupling its Action in the Year of the Tiger campaign with a contribution to the "Walking with Tiger and Leopard" Program of China Green Foundation, which is comitted to the conservation of the endangered Amur tiger. Actor and singer Li Yifeng and actress Chun Xia star in the campaign, decked out in Prada's red-accented collection.
Dior Men
Dior Men's Kim Jones teamed up with artist Kenny Scharf for the Lunar New Year collection. Incorporating the Chinese zodiac sign's 2022 element of water into the design, the capsule features the Water Tiger motif in prints, embroidery, and patches. The collection is comprised of shirts, knitwear, outerwear, and denim in lucky red and soothing blue, along with accessories like the Dior Lingot 22 bag, Dior Lock bag, B27 sneakers, and men's jewelry, which also feature the Tiger zodiac sign.
Balenciaga
Balenciaga's Lunar New Year capsule brings a sporty twist with t-shirts, fleeces, hoodies, sneakers, and more. Centered around an orange and black colorway inspired by the jungle cat, pieces either feature a subtle tiger logo or are fully printed in tiger stripes.
Gucci
The Gucci Tiger collection reinterprets a 1960s archival print by Vittorio Accornero that places the tiger against a soft palette and lush backdrop. The artistic design adorns leather goods and accessories, in addition to an assortment of ready-to-wear including outwerwear, dresses, denim, and more. Gucci Tiger wording also feeds into the logomania trend alongside Gucci's GG monogram. The capsule is presented through a campaign conceived by Alessandro Michele and captured by Angelo Pennetta with models pictured at high tea accompanied by actual tigers. Gucci Tiger will be available to shop at Gucci stores and dedicated pop-ups.
Gucci also supports the conservation of endangered species through its partnership with the Lion's Share Fund, which protects endangered animals and their habitats.
Ferragamo
Diesel
Bring good fortune into your nightlife looks with Diesel's gender neutral Lunar New Year collection. The buzzy collection centers around denim and outerwear with tiger-themed graphics. Red is the primary color of the capsule, while imagery of pastel mountains brings a softer touch.
Alexander McQueen
Launching January 12, Alexander McQueen's Lunar New Year collection brings a red twist to some of the brand's favorite accessories. Red rhinestones adorn the Curve bag and Oversized Sneaker, making a celebratory statement with the lucky color. Other bags and leather goods appear in shiny, red quilted leather as well.
Etro
Etro's limited edition Lunar New Year collection puts beloved characters from DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda front and center. Po, Tigress, Shifu, Mantis, Crane, and Monkey show off their kung fu moves on ready-to-wear and accessories. Coupled with Etro's signature paisley print, the pieces are celebratory and playful.
