After receiving more than 1,900 submissions, 20 semi-finalists have been selected to move forward in the contest for this year's LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers. During these fraught times of limited traveling and health concerns, the fashion conglomerate will feature each of the creatives in contention and their collections online, offering a global platform for these designers to showcase their collections. As a result, fashion lovers of the world will now be allowed to join the competition's group of panelists and vote for their favorite designer.

"This semi-final will be entirely digital, and we wanted to open it to the greatest number of people: for the first time, the LVMH Prize will give the public the opportunity to discover the twenty semi-finalists on the lvmhprize.com website and to vote for the candidate of their choice," says Delphine Arnault, Executive VP of LVMH.

This year, tennis star Naomi Osaka serves as one of the event's ambassadors, while the Committee of Experts will join the public in choosing the finalists. This year's new inductees into the Committee include Bella Hadid, Léa Seydoux, Editor-in-Chief of Harper's Bazaar Samira Nasr, Fashion Director of Vogue Paris Aleksandra Woronieck, and Editor-in-Chief of Vogue China Margaret Zhang.

The winner of the LVMH Prize will receive 300,000 and a one-year mentorship program from a member of the LVMH team. Other rewards include the Karl Lagerfeld/Special Jury Prize which offers another designer 150,000 and a mentorship. Three 2020 or 2021 fashion-school graduates and their schools will also each be awarded a 10,000 grant and the opportunity to spend a year at the LVMH Group House's creative studio.

The 20 semi-finalists hail from countries all over the world including Albania, China, Colombia, France, Italy, Japan, Lebanon, Nigeria, South Africa, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Each of the designers implemented a sustainable practice within the production of their collection to mirror the fashion industry's shift towards more responsible, eco-conscious clothing.

Voting is open to the public at lvmhprize.com between April 6 and 11. Eight designers will go on to the finals which be held at a date yet to be announced.
