Valentino Announces that it Will Go Fur-Free
The French maison will also cease production of its REDValentino line.
Following in the footsteps of Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Versace, and Prada, Valentino is the latest maison to announce that it will go fur-free. Beginning in its 2022 collections, the brand will opt for alternative materials over fur to cater to its more ethically-minded customers.
“Maison de Couture for us means creativity, uniqueness, intimacy and an inclusive mindset. The fur-free concept is perfectly aligned with the values of our company." says Jacopo Venturini, Valentino's CEO. "We are rapidly advancing in the search for different materials and with a view to greater attention to the environment for the collections of the coming years."
The last collection that will include fur will be Fall/Winter 2021.
The maison will also cease production of its less-expensive REDValentino label, which will be suspended at the end of 2023. "The concentration of messages on one and only one brand will support more organic growth of the maison," says Venturini.
