Timothée Chalamet is Hosting the 2021 Met Gala

The actor will co-chair the event alongside inaugural poet Amanda Gorman and designer Tom Ford.

You've seen Timothée Chalamet galavant the Italian summer countryside and declare his love in the autumnal pastures of New England. Now, the New York native's next gig will keep him much closer to home.

According to a source from Page Six, the 25-year-old actor will co-host this year's Met Gala with youth poet laureate Amanda Gorman and Tom Ford. While officials from the event have stayed mum on the matter, the outlet has been the singular source for exclusive details on the upcoming event since its rumored return last month. For their part, both Gorman and Chalamet have been known to take over a red carpet (or podium) and the phrase "best dressed" has been attached to both of their names on multiple occasions. However, fans will have to wait until the big night to see how they embody this year's "In America" theme.

In April, it was revealed that Fashion's Night Out will be held on September 13 rather than the usual first Monday in May. This, and last year's cancellation, was a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, to make up for last year's loss, fashion and art connoisseurs will be treated to a two-part fashion exhibition to accompany this year's event.

Part one, entitled "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion," will open at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on September 18, just in time for New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2022. Part two, "In America: An Anthology of Fashion," opens May 8, 2022, making the full exhibit available for viewing until September 5, 2022.

While the suggestion of American apparel as a theme may bring to mind a singular sea of denim (think Britney and Justin circa 2000), it will no doubt be interesting to see how stars and designers interpret the idea into their evening attire. After the fantastical creations for 2019's "Notes on Camp" affair, there's no telling what comes next.
