NYFW fall 2018 just came to an end, and this season, many designers opted to present fall 2018 in lieu of see now, buy now shows that made their products immediately available to consumers. One label in particular decided to put on a spring 2018 show, however. Mansur Gavriel presented a runway show full of sheer blouses, woven pants and matching coats plus, a plethora of the signature bags that customers and the fashion crowd alike know best.

Right before the duo presented their latest work, we spoke to one half of the team (Floriana Gavriel) about the collection.

Tell me about the inspiration this season?

Last season, we did ready-to-wear for the first time. It was knitwear and outerwear. This is our first spring/summer collection, so we’re showing wovens for the first time. The material will include linens, silk, cottons.

What’s new in terms of bag silhouettes?

We have a brand new top-handle silhouette: the folded mini bag and a drawstring pouch.

Why is it still important for you to do see now, buy now?

When we were not see now, buy now it was very hard for us to show something and not have it immediately available for sale for customers. We just thought it didn’t work. Now that everything’s digital and visible to the customer’s much, much faster it’s a little strange not to have a product ready. We’ll continue with it.
