The Highlights of the 2017 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
BALMAIN X VICTORIA’S SECRET Even a cursory glance at Victoria’s Secret social feeds would tell you that the company is looking to cash in on its collaboration with French fashion house Balmain, now famously helmed by Instagram’s most-followed designer, Olivier Rousteing. Given the designer’s clout with Millennials and favor among aspirational A-Listers, this collab seems like a sure thing. Don’t forget that Balmain’s collection for H&M sold out online in just hours. The VS pieces can be purchased here starting at 10AM EST. See various "punk" pieces below and shop by clicking on the photo—hurry up, they're already selling out.
THE FALLEN ANGEL Ok, sure, that title sounds a little dramatic, but a VS Angel did fall. To top it off, CBS didn’t edit it out; in fact, they made it a central moment of the show. After Chinese model Ming Xi took a tumble, the cameras followed her backstage to show her breaking down after the embarrassing incident. Given that CBS records both the dress rehearsal and the show, this incident could have easily been brushed over, which begs the question: why didn’t they?
HARRY STYLES Yes, there were other performers, but Styles (in his now signature suits) certainly stole the show. Styles performed "Kiwi" and "Only Angel"—the latter quite fitting for the night. Given the stars rumored flings with varying models, many were keen to see how he would react to the lingerie-clad ladies strutting past. Fortunately, unlike last year’s The Weeknd and Bella Hadid run-in, there wasn’t any onstage awkwardness between exes.
ALESSANDRA AMBROSIO’S SWAN SONG This year’s appearance marks the 17th and last for supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio, who now wants to focus on being a mother to her two children: Anja (9) and Noah (5). Given the model’s long and impressive resume, she’s earned her wings and then some.
