Telfar relaunched its Bag Security Program for one day, ensuring that anyone who wants the brand's signature Shopping Bag can get as many as they like.
On March 30, Brooklyn-based brand Telfar launched Telfar Bag Security Program Round II. The first iteration was a massive success in August 2020, and this time was no different.
“Last year we messed up the fashion industry and the bots with the BAG SECURITY PROGRAM—letting you get what you want, without the stress—and keeping TELFAR Black Owned and 100 percent independent. You are our investors—and together we are making history again,“ Telfar Clemens, founder of the brand, said.
The Program allows customers to pre-order the viral Shopping Bag in any size, color, and quantity for 24 hours only. All bags purchased will be shipped between July 15 and September 15, once they are produced.
Telfar's motto is "It's not for you, it's for everyone,” setting the brand apart in its commitment to inclusivity, rather than the typical exclusivity of luxury fashion. The Bag Security Program ensures that everyone gets their desired bag at a reasonable price. Typically when the brand makes drops, they sell out in minutes. The thought behind this project is the idea that there is no scarcity when it comes to taking part in the brand. Clemens and Babak Radboy, cretive director of Telfar, constantly say that there will never be product shortage, everyone will have the chance to buy a bag.
Telfar is also accessible in its prices, which range on average from $135 for the mini bag to $250 for the maxi. This, along with the Bag Security Program, also keeps the bag from garnering much resale value. Clemens advises his loyal fanbase to avoid the tempation of buying from resellers, even if a current drop is sold out. The designer encourages all to have patience. Something unknown today, but a lesson Clemens has decided to teach us.
