Psychedelic prints have emerged as a Spring/Summer 2021 essential, with brands by the likes of Raf Simons, Tom Ford, and Gabriela Hearst all showcasing multicolored, kaleidescopic patterns in their recent spring collections. Having permeated not only the realm of high fashion but also taking social media by storm, this most recent resurgence of '70s-era sinuous lines and bursts of color has made itself unequivocally known in this season's swimwear.

This funky aesthetic allows for unbridled experimentation in dress, one of the main aspects of its appeal upon its first iteration in the '70s, when it became a symbol of youth revolt. The sentiments that birthed full-fledged cultural rebellion among young people in the '70s ring true today in the wake of the prolonged uncertainty faced by much of the world over the past year and a half. With many alluding to this summer as something of a beacon of hope and a possible end to pandemic lockdowns, this brightening of our wardrobes and newly-heavy incorporation of organic shapes and patterns could not be more fitting. Here, take a look at L'OFFICIEL's roundup of our favorite takes on the swimwear trend below.
