For fashion insiders, Peter Do has quickly become a name to know, thanks to his refined yet innovative eponymous label and his recent appointment as the new creative director of Helmut Lang. Most would think his time would be consumed in preparation for his debut collection for the renowned brand this upcoming New York Fashion Week for the Spring/Summer 2024 season. However, proving why he is the rising fashion star the industry can't get enough of, there's an additional project Do is adding to his roster.
Do is collaborating with Banana Republic for an exclusive capsule collection. Launching this fall in October in select Banana Republic stores and online, the collaboration celebrates premium craftsmanship, bringing that grounded quality to the masses.
Merging the distinct design codes of the respective brands, the collection finds a balance by merging Peter Do's signature neutral color palette and impeccable penchant for tailoring with Banana Republic's classic silhouettes, inspired by designs pulled from Banana Republic's archives. Key pieces are found in a range of soft knitwear, utility silk shirting, tailored outerwear, and exceptional special detailing.
Simply put, "this is a modern collection designed for people living multi-faceted lives," as stated by the press release.
The collaboration also furthers Banana Republic's shift into a new, more modern era of fashion. While it's a brand that has always been known for upholding timeless designs at a relatively more accessible price point, in recent years it has shown visible signs of stepping into a fresh direction — that is, without compromising its classic spirit.
This also is a new step for Do, though this isn't his first collaboration since founding his label in 2018. He has priorly partnered with Opening Ceremony in collaboration with Farfetch and had a surprise collaboration with At.Kollektive for its third season. Having worked under Phoebe Philo while she was at the helm of Celine — what many fashion figures consider a golden era for the brand — all eyes are on Do, observing what innovative designs he will usher in.
