Dior's New Cruise 2021Campaign is an Enchanting Fairytale
Dior has unveiled new images and videos of its campaign for the French house's Cruise 2021 fashion collection, which paid homage to the richness of Puglia, Italy. The collection, which was first shown earlier in July this year, at the Pizza del Duomo in Lecce, continues artistic director Maria Grazia Chiuri's homage to cullture and community, and this time, with a little bit of magic realism.
The campaign images, which were photographed by Hong Kong-based artist Lean Lui's lens, captured the magic and power of ancient rites that perpetuated to this day. Shot amidst the untamed landscapes of Lecce, Dior's savoire-faire is celebrated here; where models come in delicate dresses in precious laces long skirts inspired by traditional Italian dresses and corsets as emblems of reinvented femininity. While the video (shown above and directed by Fabien Baron, presents the fashion collection in dusty, sun-drenched landscapes, accompanied by a performance of the pizzica tarantata, a liberating and spellbinding folk ritual in which a spider’s bite leads to a healing song and dance.
Reminiscent of fairies coming from the mysterious depths of the forest, Dior cruise's latest campaign is a fashion tale that has been passed down from generation to generation. Perforated leather products here also deserve special attention - from corsets, handbags to footwear.
