Moncler and JW Anderson Envision an Abstract Realm in Real Life

Moncler Genius' latest designer collaboration is presented in a literal box

We're often told to think outside the box, however JW Anderson's latest collaboration for 1 Moncler does just that by doing the opposite. Just revealed, the partnership—but one of Moncler's long-list of team ups—plays with the conventions of fashion in an unconventional way. But not without the Irish designer's love of bold shapes and loud colors, of course.

Known for his unique architectural designs and defiance of gender barriers, Anderson debuted his first taste of his Moncler Genius project last February during Milan Fashion Week. The fashion collision presented a hybrid of Moncler's signature padded clothes with Anderson’s eccentric three-dimensional designs. Not limited just to the thick zip-up blousons, this season Anderson's collection is noticably cheerier with wide-brim hats, padded scarves, and shorts that focus on the intricate shapes and bright hues seen in the designer's epynmous line. Textiles are colored in red, light blue, yellow, pink, and the monochromatic palette Moncler is known for, but of course, with Anderson’s abstract and esoteric twist.

To release the pieces, Moncler and JW Anderson created an Exhibition in a Box, a 500 limited edition archive case that includes campaign images by Brooklyn-based photographer Tyler Mitchell and instructions on how to hang the prints in one's home.
