Louis Vuitton introduced its latest fine jewelry line, dubbed Le Damier, which stands as an expansion of its centures-old pattern. The Damier is practically as recognizable as its monogram. It's a checkered motif seen on the French label's handbags and ready-to-wear (especially under Pharrell Williams' creative directorship). It has now been remixed into high-end accessories, etched in the same pattern with diamonds into yellow and white gold.

The new tennis bracelet, for example, takes inspiration from a 1978 U.S. Open match that was paused so that Chris Evert could retrieve her own fallen diamonds. "I thought about the classic tennis bracelet — always in motion and always on your wrist," Artistic Director for Watches and Jewelry Francesca Amfitheatrof said in a press release.

Rings and hoop earrings in "Le Damier" are structured around geometric patterns and offer ample opportunities for stacking and layering, perfectly in tune with current jewelry trends. Amfitheatrof continued, "It is a diamond collection that is not just about the stones but the pattern that they create."

The jewelry reflects Louis Vuitton's ambition to redefine contemporary luxury while highlighting heritage throught its 1888-born pattern. This launch comes at a critical time, following a turbulent year of a slowdown in luxury spending, spurred by shifts in consumer spending and global economic uncertainties. As the market fluctuates, Louis Vuitton aims to demark its next chapter, reconnecting with loyal customers and attracting a new generation of shoppers.
