Loewe Launches Dreamy Studio Ghibli Collaboration

“Fusing exquisite craft with kaleidoscopic fantasy,” Loewe’s newest collaboration with Japanese animated film conglomerate Studio Ghibli is now live.

Studio Ghibli films capture a wondrous world of fantasy and adventure, with Spirited Away at the forefront of its works. The 2001 film earned the studio and director Hayao Miyazaki an Academy Award, as well as earned its memory in the lives of its cult fanbase. Now fashion fans can also celebrate their love for the film with the new capsule collection, Loewe x Spirited Away.

No stranger to the surreal, Loewe captures the spirit of the film through dreamy design and dedicated craftsmanship in a capsule collection featuring ready-to-wear pieces including loose fitted t-shirts and culottes, as well as a wide array of accessories for home and wear.

Loewe x Spirited Away allows the wearer to don the most memorable moments of the film and place themselves in the fantastical world it’s set in. Images of beloved Spirited Away charactersthe no face ghost, the main character Chichiro, the antagonist Yubaba, and many more are featured in a variety of renderings, from jacquard to embroidery.

The collection offers blankets, scarves, and staple Loewe leather bags featuring the Amazona, Puzzle, Hammock, and Flamenco. Canvas bags and totes are also included.

In addition to the already expansive range of pieces, Loewe has debuted their use of the traditional Japanese design technique “boro,” which is the creation of patchworked indigo dyed textiles. Boro textiles are included in ready-to-wear and some accessories.
