Louis Vuitton Ups the Ante with Léa Seydoux and Playing Card-Themed Cruise 2021Collection
Fashion is a game, and for Cruise 2021's season, it’s clear that Louis Vuitton holds all the aces. Fusing the iconography of the French house with the symbolism of a deck of playing cards Artistic Director Nicolas Ghesquière dreams up a whimsical universe for the Maison’s Cruise 2021 collection, which is dubbed Game On.
Injecting a jolt of vivacity and vibrance into the iconic Louis Vuitton Monogram, Ghesquière reimagines the century-plus-old pattern with tiny hearts scattered between the emblematic quatrefoil flowers, rendered in poppy red and sky blue, respectively, against a starkly monochrome background. This eye-catching motif adorns signature accoutrements such as the Petite Malle, Neverfull tote, Vanity PM, three-in-one Kirigami Pochette, and Zippy Wallet in coated canvas, as well as silk pyjama sets, jacquard knitwear, nylon bombers, two-piece swimsuits, and more.
Raising the style stakes even further, the Game On collection also features a boldly graphic take on the four suits of a card deck, which are blown up, tinted in striking shades of red, and yellow, and splashed over the Twist shoulder bag, Dauphine handbag, Keepall Bandoulière, Pochette Cosmetique, and LV Archlight sneaker, in addition to an assortment of ready-to-wear pieces that includes mini and maxi dresses, wrap skirts, zip-up jackets, printed T-shirts, and a statement jumpsuit.
Oh, and if that isn’t quite enough fun, Louis Vuitton has a few more cards up its sleeve: the heart-shaped Coeur crossbody—a first for the Maison—the oversized dice-like Square bag, and quirky, game-themed jewellery and charms. Ready to get your game on?
