Lafayette 148 Opens New Flagship Store in New York City
The brand opened its new SoHo store with a cocktail party followed by an intimate dinner at The Mercer.
In walking distance from fellow luxury brands like Dior, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and more Lafayette 148 has opened its new flagship store along the cobblestone street of New York City in honor of the brand's 25th anniversary. In celebration of the launch, the brand hosted an exclusive cocktail at the brick-and-mortar space, followed by a small dinner party just around the corner at the The Mercer.
The event featured an installation by artist Lily Kwong that cultivated a fantastical image of New York's urban streetscape devoured by diverse plantlife of in purple majesty millet, Angelwing begonia, deep red pennisetums. Kwong focused on a color palette of rich reds, purples, and blue, inspired by the healing power of anthocyanins in the natural world.
As lockdown and social distancing mandates continue to fall away around the globe, the installation, and the event itself, is a reminder of what the world, including the fashion industry, has overcome in the past year. During the COVID-19 pandemic, SoHo, in particular, was hit was an onslaughter of looters. However, the evening served as a great reminder of how far we've come in defeating this global health crisis and resuming social activities with friends.
The event was followed by an intimiate gathering at The Mercer for a dinner. Actresses Rosario Dawson and Quintessa Swindell were in attendance, as well as Lafayette 148 Creative Director Emily Smith and other friends of the brand.
The Lafayette 148 flagship store is now open at 59 Greene Street in New York City.
