Janice Dickinson was one of America's first major supermodels. Known for her long legs and brunette locks, the New York City-native acted as the face of fashion throughout the '70s and '80s. At the onset of her career, young Dickinson was turned down by a number of modeling agencies who considered her look to be too different from the mainstream. Her tanned complexion and dark eyes were not necessarily in line with the desirable all-American look which was popularized during that time. Ultimately, the renowned Whilmenia Cooper took Dickinson under her wing as the young model's first agent. She went on to work with the likes of Gianni Versace, Oscar de la Renta, and Calvin Klein. Dickinson's notable look became easily recognizable as she accumulated international magazine covers, viral ad campaigns, and iconic runway engagements.

After formally retiring from modeling, Dickinson remained in the limelight. She acted as a judge on the fan-favorite reality television series America's Next Top Modelwhere she was celebrated for her brutal honesty. However, she was removed from the show after four cycles due to a disagreement with her co-star, Tyra Banks. After that, Dickinson starred on her own television series titled The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency. Throughout the show, Dickinson took on the role of an agent and assisted young models in building their careers. Recently, the seasoned supermodel even appeared on The Bachelor to help facilitate a contestant fashion show.

It is clear that Dickinson is still a prominent face within the fashion industry. In celebration of her 68th birthday, join L'OFFICIEL in looking back on the supermodel's best style moments from her early days in fashion.
