Jane Fonda will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award at this year's Golden Globes in celebration of the 61st year of her career in Hollywood. The tribute recognizes the 83-year-old's work in cinema, which took her to the top of the box office. Fonda has starred in classics such as Barbarella, Klute, and 9 to 5.

Most recently, Fonda appeared on the Netflix series Grace & Frankie. She is also known for her political activism—protesting the Vietnam War, campaigning for civil rights, and advocating for feminist causes.

The Cecil B. DeMille Award is the highest honor given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the organization behind the Globes. Other previous winners include big names like Robert De Niro, Sophia Loren, Sean Connery, Oprah Winfrey, Martin Scorsese, Jodie Foster, Steven Spielberg, and Meryl Streep. Last year's honoree was Tom Hanks.

Fonda previously won seven Golden Globes and has been nominated 15 times. She will accept the honor at the awards show, which will air on Sunday, February 28, 2021. This year's ceremony is likely to be very different from previous editions due to the coronavirus.
