Jacquemus, at last, lands in New York. The French brand announced the opening of the its brick-and-mortar location in SoHo, signaling the start of a new era for the fashion house and shoppers alike. This opening marks its first standalone spot in the United States, and it signals a move to tap into the country's fashion capital.

Located at 143 Spring Street, Jacquemus' new boutique is nested in the heart of New York's infamous, downtown neighborhood that's characterized by its art and retails scene. Inside feels more like your enviably stylish friend's home, thanks to being housed in a 19th century brownstone with oyster white wooden planks and large glass paneling. This makes sense, given that Creative Director Simon Porte Jacquemus thought of the interior as if it was his own home.

The two-floor, 2,906 square-foot store houses artiful furniture like chairs by Frank Lloyd Wright, lithographs by Aristide Maillol and Joan Miró, and photographs by Wolfgang Tillmans and Peter Schlesinger. There are also Maillol's sculptures borrowed from Galerie Dina Vierny. Jacquemus and Oma collaboratively designed the space over the past year, incorporating motifs like white stucco and banana yellow curtains.

Whimsical, bubbly and elegant garments on the rack juxtaposed with the thoughtful interior make shopping in the store feel like a celebration of artistic excellence. It's an exciting next step for the French label, which has quickly become one of today's favorite fashion houses.

Update, October 18, 2024: The boutique officially opened doors in the morning. After hosting a breakfast with the fashion house's friends and VIPs, Jacquemus (the man) hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and passed out croissaints and fresh juice to brand fans and sartorially excited passerbys. The new location will host celebrations throughout the weekend. Ahead, it will be open Monday through Saturday.
