Hedi Slimane's departure from Celine had long been anticipated, and this morning, the fashion house officially confirmed it. Slimane, known for his elegance and refined French taste, previously led creative efforts at Yves Saint Laurent and Dior Homme. After seven transformative years at Celine, where he expanded the brand into menswear and beauty, he is now saying goodbye.

"The House of Celine announces the departure of Hedi Slimane, Creative and Artistic Director of the Image since January 2018. Under his creative and artistic direction, Celine has experienced exceptional growth and has established itself as an indispensable French couture house. Hedi Slimane's holistic vision, his exactingness and rigor have made it possible to redraw the codes of Celine while maintaining its feminine and Parisian identity. He has also significantly enriched the territories of expression of the House with the men's silhouette, couture and fine perfumery. The extraordinary journey they have undertaken together over the past seven years makes Celine a House with formidable foundations for the future," the House said in a press release.

Hedi Slimane’s exit from Celine marks the end of a significant chapter for both the designer and the iconic fashion house. Since joining Celine in 2018 as Creative and Artistic Director, Slimane’s tenure has been characterized by his bold vision and exacting aesthetic, which helped redefine the brand’s identity. Known for his rock-chic style and preference for sleek, tailored silhouettes, Slimane brought a modern edge to Celine, elevating it from a minimalist, feminine brand into a broader, more gender-fluid space.
